Facilities, too, are second to none – there's a fabulous spa room with a sauna and state-of-the-art 5.5m countercurrent pool, which is powerful enough to give even the most serious athlete a challenging workout, while still allowing families to relax in the jacuzzi section. It even filters and cleans its own water, changing the entire contents of the pool at least twice an hour!

The property...

The focus of this charming chalet is the double-height living area, which has fabulous views down the valley towards Thônes.

A lot of thought has gone into making this area perfect for a large group, with modular sofas that you can arrange however you like, underfloor heating, and a huge dining table so that you can all sit down to eat together. The kitchen has a range cooker and everything you need to cook up a feast.

There's a TV room on the mezzanine level, leaving the ground floor seating area for those who want to relax around the fire or for a different TV programme. The chalet also has a Bluetooth sound system with great BOSE speakers, so that you can listen to your favourite tracks during your stay.

Sleeping arrangements are flexible too – there are five bedrooms including three double beds which can be separated into twins, one double bed, one single bed, three pull-out beds, and three additional single beds that allow you to spread your group as you see fit. Five bathrooms, four of them en suite, mean you won't have to queue in the morning.

There is even a dedicated kit room, which means that at the end of a hard day on the hill, everyone can remove all of their wet kit, set boots to dry on the boot warmers, gloves on the glove warmers. There's a washing machine, tumble drier and sink. Everything can be ready to go again the following morning without mountains of boots, jackets and other gear cluttering up the rest of the chalet.

About the area...

Chalet Flocon Magique is ideally placed for skiers and boarders of all ages and abilities. Just grab your gloves, boots and skis from the chalet’s heated ski store and head for the snow-sure resorts of La Clusaz and Le Grand-Bornand, just a few minutes drive away.

These resorts are linked to Manigod by a regular ski bus, giving you more than 200km of pistes to explore. There’s great terrain for cross-country skiers too.

Non-skiers will find plenty to keep them occupied, with a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool, ice-skating rink and cinema, as well as sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides. Thrill seekers should head for the Bun-J-Ride in Saint-Jean-de-Sixt!

There’s no shortage of walks from Chalet Flocon Magique, from mountain trails to hiking on the Glières plateau, the scene of the Resistance’s campaign in World War II.

Adrenalin junkies are well catered for too, with paragliding, canyoning, climbing, via ferrata, mountain biking (there are four bikes available at the chalet) and white-water rafting just some of the activities on offer within a few miles of Saint-Jean-de-Sixt.

After a fun-filled day, kids can let off steam in the fields, while the adults enjoy a quiet drink and watch the sun sink behind the mountains...
